Set up for Classes/Workshops

At the Store

Arlene’s offers a dedicated studio space located in the basement of the store. It is a bright clean space perfect for creating and having fun. In the case that someone can’t manage stairs we also use the back Paper Room. We provide tables, chairs and table top easels (as needed) for use with classes/workshops. There is a sink and restroom in the staff break room that instructors and students have access to during classes/workshops on the main level. There is no sink or bathroom in the basement studio space. Also, the instructors are expected to set up their workshops prior to the start of the session and should allot the appropriate time to do so in order for the class/workshop to go off without a hitch. Arlene’s will help set up the tables, chairs and easels in a general formation to be previously discussed. Please be respectful of the space and leave it in the condition in which you found it. Weather permitting, we can have classes/workshops outside on the store's property and will work with the instructor regarding set up. Arlene's can provide the chairs and tables used in store but does not have a tent or any covering for use outside.

We also have some supplies and tools that can be used for the classes/workshops. If you need something and don’t have it let us know and, within reason, we can discuss some type of accommodation.

Plein Air or Off Site

We are open to Plein Air or Off Site classes and workshops. Instructors are expected to arrive prior to the start of the session and allot the appropriate time to scout location and set everything they need up. Any special permissions needed will be handled by Arlene's and received prior to scheduling. In the past we have worked with the Albany Institute of History and Art, Indian Ladder Farms, John Boyd Thacher State Park and Six Mile Waterworks.

Online

All online classes/workshops are held live via Zoom. Set up is at the sole discretion of the instructor and they are responsible for all support materials. Arlene's has its own paid Zoom account that instructors will use. Prior to the start of the class/workshop we will reach out to the instructor to log in and switch host privilege over to them. We do record each session and can share them with instructors upon request. We are planning on starting a YouTube page and hope to use some the recorded material as content, with proper permission from the parties involved.
