Wondering what all the buzz is around encaustic art? In this introductory workshop, participants will learn to combine a variety of media and materials with heated beeswax paint and medium to create richly layered, one-of-a-kind collages. We will explore composition and color, using drawing media, paper, encaustic paint, and a heat gun to bind the components together. We’ll discuss various surface treatments for the wax as well. Supplies are included in the cost of this workshop. A variety of collage materials will be provided, however, participants are welcome to bring their favorite handmade papers and/or natural fiber fabric scraps. An apron is recommended.

Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements.
