The R Gallery at Arlene's is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition, "Pick A Card," featuring the remarkable work of our artist-in-residence, Maria DeAngelo. This captivating exhibition, showcasing a fresh selection of mixed media acrylic on cards, unveils a remarkable collection of fragments from Maria's life. These works were meticulously crafted during her tenure as an Artist in Residence at Arlene's.
Maria's artistic journey takes us on a deeply personal exploration of existence. From love letters cherished by her parents to fragments of a mylar birthday balloon and paint-stained paper towels, "Pick A Card" invites viewers to contemplate how we experience life's intricacies.
In Maria's own words, "When creating this body of work, I gave myself the challenge to limit the color palette of the backgrounds to five colors that I used in varied amounts in every piece in the show. These colors are the bridge between the bits of…
