Make and Take: Pamphlet Bookmaking

Calling all creative minds! Join us for a fun and informative Make & Take on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 11 am to 2 pm where you'll learn the art of pamphlet bookmaking.

In this hands-on session, artist in residence Maria DeAngelo will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating your very own unique pamphlet book. You'll explore the basics of bookbinding, including:

• Folding and preparing your paper
• Punching holes for stitching
• Sewing techniques that create a beautiful and secure binding
• Adding a decorative cover (optional)

Whether you're a seasoned artist, a curious beginner, or simply looking for a new creative outlet, this workshop is perfect for you.

What you'll take home:

• Your very own handmade pamphlet book, ready to showcase your creativity
• The knowledge and skills to create more pamphlet books at home
• Inspiration for using your new bookmaking skills for zines, mini-journals, artist's books, and more!

Materials provided:

• All the paper and materials you'll need to create your pamphlet book
• Sewing thread and needles
• Decorative elements (optional)

No prior experience necessary! This workshop is designed to be fun and accessible for all skill levels. So come explore the world of bookbinding and unleash your inner bookmaker!Open to all ages and experience levels, Make and Takes are a fantastic opportunity to try something new in a no-judgment environment. All supplies are included. These sessions are held in conjunction with our Artist in Residence Program.
