This course is set up to develop an understanding of gouache and its flexibility as paint. It can be either watered down to act like watercolor or built up to work like acrylic. Students will have their choice of working in either acrylic gouache or (regular) water-based gouache. They will begin with experimenting with gouache to find the consistency students are most comfortable with and end with a full gouache piece. Students have the choice of either working from life with a small object or from a photo reference. A supply list will be provided upon registration and supplies are not included in the cost of the workshop.

Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stairs, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements.
