Artist Proposals for 2026
October 3, 2025 through August 29, 2026
The R Gallery at Arlene’s (RG) invites artists from across the region to submit proposals for solo or group exhibitions as part of our 2026 season. We are seeking compelling, cohesive bodies of work that reflect a clear artistic voice and contribute meaningfully to contemporary creative discourse.
As part of our ongoing commitment to presenting both emerging and established artists, RG fosters an inclusive exhibition space that encourages thoughtful engagement and supports a thriving artistic community.
“Since our humble beginning in 2017, the R Gallery at Arlene’s has been lucky enough to feature a wide selection of talented artists and creatives that live in our community. We want to continue that narrative and are looking for regional artists to build on that tradition,” says Gallery Director and Curator Andrew Ochal. “Ideal applicants will have a strong body of work with a clear voice that reflects their artistic vision, as well as a willingness to share that vision with our creative community.”
Proposals will be reviewed by our exhibition committee and used to develop the gallery’s 2026 calendar of exhibitions. All two- or three-dimensional media will be considered. Please ensure that your submission includes a cohesive proposal and reflects your unique point of view.
All applications must be submitted online via the designated submission form. Mail-in or in-person submissions will not be accepted. Deadline to apply: Saturday, August 30, 2025, by 5 PM (EST).

Artists will be notified by Saturday,September 20, 2025, with how we would like to proceed with their proposal.
Monday through Thursday: 10 AM to 8 PM Friday: 10 AM to 6 PM
Saturday: 10 AM to 5 PM
Sunday: 1 PM to 5 PM

R Gallery at Arlene's Submission Guidelines:
Please read the guidelines carefully before you submit your Artist Proposal. Artwork that does not meet the guidelines will be disqualified. If accepted work does not meet the guidelines when received at R Gallery at Arlene’s, it will refused and not exhibited. No mail submissions will be accepted. Have questions? Submission Fee:

There is no fee to apply to the R Gallery at Arlene’s.
Artwork Submissions Criteria:

All artists wanting to submit a proposal to the R Gallery at Arlene’s must submit a complete application prior to the deadline of 5 pm (EST) on Saturday, August 30, 2025, and be selected by our exhibition committee. Any incomplete applications will not be considered.

We are open to all media including installations.

All artwork must be original done by the applicant and reflect a cohesive body of work.

Artists must submit a separate PDF of their artist statement and bio.

Up to 15 images of the work intended to be exhibited may be submitted. Image file size must be at least 300 dpi and labeled in the following format: FristLastName_Title.jpg or FristLastName_Title.png.

Exhibition List that corresponds to the images submitted. The list should include the artist's name, titles, mediums, sizes, year made, and prices (including 40% commission).

Applicants will be asked to provide links to their social media accounts if applicable.

The artwork submitted in the application must be the same work to be exhibited in the R Gallery at Arlene's. Artists are not permitted to change or replace pieces of the original submissions without prior permission from the R Gallery at Arlene’s.

Artwork Sales:

Artists will receive 60% of the sale with a 40% commission to the R Gallery at Arlene’s.
Visibility and Promotion:

Artwork selected for the R Gallery at Arlene's will be available to view and purchase in person at the R Gallery at Arlene's located inside Arlene's Artist Materials.

Artwork included in the program will be featured on the gallery's website, social media posts, and newsletters.
