Arlene’s Artist Materials is thrilled to announce Pantheon, a solo exhibition featuring the multimedia works of artist Aly Parrott during her residency at Arlene’s. The exhibit will run from Friday, November 1, 2024, through Saturday, November 30, 2024, with an artist reception on November 1st from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Step into a fantastical realm where titans and primordial deities roam the earth, shaping mountains, churning seas, and weaving the very fabric of time itself. Pantheon invites visitors on a journey through Aly Parrott’s original fantasy world, inspired by the rich lore of ancient Greco-Roman mythology and contemporary fantasy storytelling, including elements from table-top role-playing games.

Aly’s creative process mirrors a mythology of its own, starting with a blank canvas of cotton paper. Layer by layer, she applies watercolor to create the essence of her characters, allowing the organic shapes and hues to guide her vision. This technique allows for a unique exploration of her subjects, as she intricately crafts each character’s form through drawing, stitching, and needle felting. The result is a collection of striking, multimedia representations that defy traditional high fantasy art, encouraging viewers to engage with a world they may not often explore.

Pantheon marks the foundational series of a functional, playable world that Aly is dedicated to developing further through illustration, written narratives, and collaborative storytelling. Join us for the opening reception of Pantheon and experience the magic of Aly Parrott’s creative vision.
